It’s crazy how time flies so fast—it seriously feels like we just welcomed 2025 yesterday, and now we’re already halfway through the year like… crazyy.
Last year, I started doing a mid year reset routine, and let me tell you—it opened my eyes. I looked back and realized how many goals I completely forgot about just a few months in. Some goals? They weren’t even relevant anymore. Life changes, priorities shift, and honestly, that’s okay. That’s exactly why doing a mid-year reset is so important.
This is your reminder to pause, check in with yourself, reflect on where you’re at, and realign. Think of it like a mini fresh start—a chance to course-correct before the holiday chaos rolls in and we all start pushing things off until the new year again.
In this post, I’ll walk you through my go-to process for a powerful mid-year review, including how to do a life audit, journal through your goals, and map out a game plan to change your life in the next 6 months—in a way that actually feels doable.
What is a mid year reset?
A mid-year reset is your halfway checkpoint—a moment to pause, reflect, and realign your life before the year slips away. It’s not about starting over or shaming yourself for what you didn’t do; it’s about honestly assessing where you are, what still matters to you, and how you can move forward with more intention. Think of it as a mini life audit that helps you get clear on your goals, adjust your mindset, and create space for the habits and routines that will support the version of you you’re becoming.
Step #1: Let’s Do Some Journaling First
Before jumping into goal setting and planning, let’s slow down and actually reflect on the last 6 months. Journaling is one of the most powerful tools during a mid year review because it helps you process your experiences, celebrate your wins, and gain clarity on what needs to shift moving forward.
Grab your journal, light a candle, play your favorite chill playlist—and give yourself permission to get real and honest.
Reflect on Your Achievements:
- What are your top 5 achievements from the past 6 months? (Big or small, they count!)
- What were your top 5 happiest moments? The ones that made you smile or feel deeply fulfilled?
- How can you reward yourself for how far you’ve come?
- Write a letter thanking your past self for showing up, growing, and learning.
- Write a letter encouraging your future self to stay focused, dream boldly, and make the most of the next 6 months.
Reflect on Your Lessons and Progress:
- What are the top 5 lessons you’ve learned so far this year?
- What was your biggest setback, and what did it teach you?
- What has worked well for you? Which habits or routines should you keep doing?
- What hasn’t worked? What do you need to stop doing or shift?
- Are there any limiting beliefs that have held you back? How can you reframe them into more empowering beliefs?
This reflection is like a life audit—a gentle but powerful way to reconnect with yourself before diving into what’s next.
Step #2: Review Your Goals
Now that you’ve reflected on the past 6 months, it’s time to look at your goals with fresh eyes. This is where the real magic of a mid year reset routine happens—where you reassess and realign so the rest of the year actually works for you.
Use this journaling exercise to break it down:
- Which of my goals from the start of the year are still in progress, and what 5 habits or action steps do I need to continue doing to achieve them?
- Which goals have I completely forgotten or drifted away from, and why? Are any of them still important to me?
- Which goals no longer feel aligned with who I am or what I want? Am I ready to release them without guilt?
- Which 2–3 goals still deeply matter to me, and how can I make them a priority for the rest of the year?
- For each of my top 3 priority goals, what are the next 5 small steps or habits I can commit to for steady progress?

Step #3: Schedule Your Goals Into the Months
It’s not enough to just set goals—you need to make space for them in your actual life. The next 6 months won’t magically give you more time, but with a clear plan, you can make real progress without feeling overwhelmed.
Here’s how to make it happen:
- Break each of your top 3 goals into monthly milestones. → Example: July – brainstorm, August – take action, September – refine or launch.
- Assign 1–2 main goals per month. → Focusing on fewer goals at a time helps you stay consistent and avoid burnout.
- Plug your habits and action steps into your weekly schedule. → Example: “Workout M/W/F”, “Goal check-in every Sunday”, “Plan meals every Saturday.”
- Use a calendar, planner, or Notion to map it all out. → Visual planning keeps things clear and helps you stick to what matters.
- Schedule monthly or biweekly check-ins. → Reflect regularly with prompts like: “What’s working? What’s not? What needs to shift?”
And there you have it—your roadmap to making the next 6 months your most successful yet! The mid-year reset is your opportunity to course-correct, refresh, and realign with your goals.
By reflecting on your achievements, reviewing your progress, and scheduling your next steps, you’re setting yourself up for a powerful second half of the year.
Remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about staying consistent and intentional with your time and energy. You’ve got the tools, the mindset, and the vision to change your life in the next 6 months. Now, it’s your turn to take action and make it happen.
